Cattiwampus

Here's a fun video that we (mostly Jay, but I helped) made to go with one of his awesome songs with his band, Cheek.  It doesn't seem like slow motion, but it actually is.
We lucked out with the timing and weirdness of that ending.

Happy Pseudo-Anniversary (latergram)

Did I hit the jackpot or what?  I own this now.  My Leapling husband is groovy.  And when I say that I hit the jackpot, I am referring to him, and not the cowbell.  (But it is definitely a rocking cowbell.)  I am married to an extraordinary, brilliant, talented and kind gentleman.  He plays hippie songs with me on his guitar and makes me nachos and brings me pictures of astronauts.

Latergram: July 15. So this happened completely by accident at Taco Time, a while back.

I felt like I suddenly had too much tortilla on my double-wrapped taco.

And when I pulled off the extra tortilla, my husband and I both gasped when the magical and mysterious Bat Taco appeared.

Lez Zeppelin

My good friend (and my husband's former bandmate) Leesa is the drummer for this incredible band.  They are as impressive as they are entertaining.  Do not miss a chance to see them!  They will make your blood molecules dance.  Leesa is world class.  Such a treat.

Cheek, 2001. Thanks, Citizen Doug!

My fellow PVA alumni, Emmy award winner, and friend Doug Robertson recorded my husband's band Cheek at the KUHF studios in Houston, a while back.  He said that they were the only band that ever got censored....hmmm, how about that.

Cheek was a brilliant band.

Here is Doug's awesome footage, along with my husband Jay, and my stunningly talented friends: Brett Needham, Steve Bundrick, and Chris McFarland. Click the link below or click on the photo.

Tonkalele, coming soon...

My husband is the shit!  I asked if he could make me a pocket ukulele, and the floodgates opened...and he comes up with all kinds of amazingness.  He is working on several, but this one is made from a 4-inch Tonka mini lunchbox.  The tuning pegs will be zither and the wood will get a light stain.  He even branded it with his Plutonian symbol, homemade from a paper clip.  My Tonkalele is going to be about 16 inches long and dyn-o-mite!

Rest in peace, Scott Daniels.

This has been an awful week.  Last Sunday, on Mother's Day, my husband and I learned that our friend and former classmate, Scott Daniels, died unexpectedly.  I had known Scott since elementary school (we actually were in a drama class together in the 4th grade), and he went to high school with us at HSPVA.  He was my husband's Fleshmop bandmate, a best friend, and brother.  We have been so sad.  He didn't get the help that he needed, wanted, and was on a waiting list for.  He shouldn't have died.  He left behind a sweet, 10-year-old daughter and a widowed mother.

No mother should have to go through planning a funeral for their child, and then least of all have it be on Mother's Day.  Ironically, this is the second time that we have lost a close friend on Mother's Day. It is the worst.  We are all devastated.

We'll miss you, Scott.  You were a sweet guy and just simply astonishing crazy genius on the guitar.  The times that I've heard him play, I was glued to each note.

We will miss you so much. This shouldn't have happened.
